Today was the Turkey Trot (a 5K) and it was awesome. I was totally surprised at how well I did and at the same time humbled at how well I didn’t do. I did finish and it was the most exciting thing knowing I started training for something and finished it. I beat my usual time by six minutes which was pretty awesome considering the track was sand and low grade hills. Anyway I treated myself to some Bad Ass coffee as I absolutely am in love with that place and then we pretty much vegged for the rest of the day which, I felt, I deserved!

Ok so I am a fan of Starbucks and here and there I have a treat one of their puss-milk lattes with tons of sugar. I mean it still tastes amazing. I have to be honest though my love has been fading and I have been favoring Satellite coffee and atmosphere over the very corporate artsy Starbucks. There has been only one thing I can never give up and that of course is the holiday favored lattes. I love them each and every one. However a few weeks ago I decided that I would stop by my local starbucks and grab a latte while I read my book ( about consuming which is ironic). Well I sat down and situated myself and settled in to finish yet another book, I sipped my latte only to find it tasted off. I didn’t know if I was just off and it wasn’t horrible so I finished it. I was sad of course that it wasn’t it’s usual greatness but not everyday is perfect.
So today we had Aislin’s PIP and I was jones’n for caffeine and didn’t want to make it. I ran over to the local starbucks grabbed my egg nog latte and headed out the door. When I got home and took a sip it tasted like sour milk. It was beyond disgusting. I wrote the corporate office and e-mail since I’d already gotten home and of course they really care about my opinion but not enough to respond (surprise). Anyway all that to say I have given up on Starbucks I just can’t afford to pay that much money to drink sour milk (which did make me sick).

So Satellite you finally have won me over just by doing that thing you do:)

Since I am training for a tri I figured I should probably start swimming well my good buddy who also hates mornings had this great idea that we could swim at 6:30 in the am. It sounded like a good idea in theory or should I say to that small inner athlete, However, The much bigger food loving slug in me woke up this morning thinking I should check into a mental institution. However since Misty was waiting for me I figured I should head out. So it wasn’t that bad after I got used to the cold water eek! I was able to do 500M mostly working on breathing though so don’t think I’m that awesome.
Part of my motivation to get done was that I would swing by a little coffee place up the road from us called 3rd Alarm coffee. Every time I’ve tried to stop by there it’s been too late and closed so I figure it’s more of a morning coffee drinker kind of place. I am all for small coffee shops owned by locals so I couldn’t wait to go. Anyway I pulled up to the place which was open so that was a good sign for me. I went in and was grateful I had grabbed cash for the pool because they don’t take Mastercard which just happens to be my debit. Anyway the small was like $3.75 so I figured dang they got some amazing coffee or they like to rip people off. I did give them the benefit of the doubt assuming that most local businesses charge a little more. So I paid for my coffee and got to the car to savor the flavor and it tasted like milk with flavor in it and no espresso. So here is my critique. They could use smaller cups and charge a little less which would use up less milk and then would give their lattes flavor. Although they were just using Seattles Best and it was posted everywhere which kind of gives it more of a corporate feel but maybe people who get up that early like that kind of thing.
